We Had Such a Fun Day!
There’s nothing like time in the forest to connect children to the natural world.  There’s so much to discover and explore. School Forest Naturalists have extensive experience working with children in the out-of-doors and are skilled in sparking their sense of wonder and extending classroom lessons to the out-of-doors. Typically two naturalists accompany each class and guide students in experiences to deepen their understanding and appreciation.

Arrange your class field trip through Madison School and Community Recreation (MSCR). Click here to go to the MMSD website to get more information about field studies at the School Forest.  Contact Liz Just, MSCR Environmental Program Specialist, with any questions.  Her e-mail and phone number are at the bottom of the MMSD page under “Questions”.

Teachers can also reserve the School Forest campground, along with the shelter, the nature center, and the bunk houses. There is no additional charge to use these facilities. They come in handy on rainy or snowy days.

Arrange buses through Badger Bus Lines to be able to pay for transportation with district funding.  The MMSD website has more details.

The Friends of the School Forest encourage classes to take a second trip to the school Forest during the year.  Funds are available from the Friends to cover the cost of a second trip.
